Though the hotel doesn't offer bulk bathroom amenities, it does provide Aveda products.

This is a magnificent, old hotel that has been maintained well. The rooms and halls are spacious so you never feel cramped or too close. With big windows overlooking either the ocean or the town, you have lots of views and fresh air in your room. And a live plant adds to the freshness of the room.

There are lots of little green touches in the hotel, but also some points that are missed. We didn't see a compact fluorescent bulb anywhere, but the wastebasket wasn't lined (we find that to be a great green step), and the shower curtain wasn't plastic which would have detracted both from the room's ambiance and the environmental benefits of the room.

We loved being able to walk down to the beach, watch the sea lions and waves, and dine on a rooftop where we could hear people having fun and the ocean. The staff was friendly and helpful, making our stay enjoyable.

Review this hotel

This website is for you and your fellow green travelers. You can make it more useful by sharing your travel experiences at the different environmentally friendly hotels or eco-lodges you stay in. The more comments and reviews we have on the hotels in the database, the more you and other environmentally conscious travelers have to go on for making decisions.

When you review a hotel, the information we are looking for is what your experience was; how you felt about what you saw and did in regards to the hotel. Did you notice any environmentally sensitive steps taken that aren't covered by either the attributes list or the hotel's website? For example, were the shower curtains fabric rather than plastic, the wastebasket unlined, or did the room smell fresh without having been perfumed? Does the housekeeping staff honor the towel/sheet program? Are Styrofoam products offered at any food establishments connected to the environmentally friendly hotel? We want the good and the bad so other green travelers can make informed decisions.

There are lots of little things that go into making a great experience, and lots of little things that go into making a great green experience. That's what we are looking for in the reviews we receive. All comments and submissions become the property of, LLC and may be published.
