Buena Vista is the perfect vacation center. You can hike any of the "14-ers! in the Collegiate Peaks, raft or kayak the Arkansas River, soak in natural hot springs, and horseback ride through beautiful country. In the winter, cross country ski or drive to Monarch Ski Area to downhill ski.

Chaffee County has a wealth of activities to offer tourists. This is a great spot for active travelers. Fly fish, mountain bike, rock climb, hot air balloon, or even watch migrating birds.

From Buena Vista you can also take easy day trips to Aspen during the summer, and Leadville for history and Salida for arts year 'round.

This hotel is built with environmentally friendly, local building materials. The mud for the adobe was dug right from the yard, wood for the floors and cabinets was milled from beetle-killed trees, and windows were recycled from another building.

Soaps are natural and hand made.

Live plants are arranged through the house, contributing to cleaner air.

Review this hotel

This website is for you and your fellow green travelers. You can make it more useful by sharing your travel experiences at the different environmentally friendly hotels or eco-lodges you stay in. The more comments and reviews we have on the hotels in the database, the more you and other environmentally conscious travelers have to go on for making decisions.

When you review a hotel, the information we are looking for is what your experience was; how you felt about what you saw and did in regards to the hotel. Did you notice any environmentally sensitive steps taken that aren't covered by either the attributes list or the hotel's website? For example, were the shower curtains fabric rather than plastic, the wastebasket unlined, or did the room smell fresh without having been perfumed? Does the housekeeping staff honor the towel/sheet program? Are Styrofoam products offered at any food establishments connected to the environmentally friendly hotel? We want the good and the bad so other green travelers can make informed decisions.

There are lots of little things that go into making a great experience, and lots of little things that go into making a great green experience. That's what we are looking for in the reviews we receive. All comments and submissions become the property of HealthyStays.com, LLC and may be published.
